This Singer 221K Featherweight sewing machine is said to be the finest Singer ever produced. Please be aware that the machine is wired for UK voltage and I would recommend that it is checked and PAT tested by a qualified electrician if you intend to use it. The machine has the usual light wear, scratches and use marks to the bed that you would expect from a well used item, but, the gilt and black paint work are in good condition. The chrome work has retained much of its original finish and is still bright.
The following chart is provided to help you have a better idea of when your Singer Featherweight was manufactured. The date often given by the Singer corporation as a machine's 'birthdate' is actually the date the batches of serial numbers were released for production. Experimenting with the design and aesthetics of this new model, some of the distinctions. Serial number placement was moved from under the drip pan tray to the bottom. No Featherweights (as well as other family sewing machines) were.
The foot pedal and plug are present, however, there is only a light fitting adapter to the end. Therefore, I have tested the machine with another foot pedal and the machine is works well, as does the light.
The bobbin case is present with a bobbin. The serial number is EH139334 dating it to 1952. The chrome work has retained its' original finish and is still bright.
The front of the machine slides out as it should. It sews lovely. As you would expect for a machine of this age, there are a few marks, but generally it is in excellent condition.The motors and light work well and the foot pedal has been replaced with a more modern version.The comes with loads of accessories, 2 bobbins and spare bobbin case.Included are original instructions and an original advertising flyer.The box is solid, but again has some age related wear.All in all, a very nice machine.Please ask if you have any questions.Will happily ship worldwide.
